Crowns and 

Bridges

Permanent Crowns
- crowns are commonly called “caps”

  •  A permanent crown  may be necessary to restore damaged or decaying teeth with large cavities, chips or cracks. Crowns are made of porcelain or metal and cover the damaged tooth, restoring shape and function.  

    Benefits - Crowns improve appearance, shape, and strength of a damaged tooth. 

    The permanent crown is placed on the second appointment, 2-3 weeks after the initial crown appointment.
     


Provisional Crowns

  • Provisional crowns are made of acrylic resin and are placed during the initial crown appointment. Provisional crowns provide protection and prevent the teeth from moving before the permanent crown comes back from the lab.

    Benefits - Provisional crowns can be a temporary option if a permanent crown is not financially feasible.
     


Recementing Crowns

  • If a crown comes off, it is important to have it recemented within a few days to prevent the teeth from moving.
     


Implant Crowns    

  • Implants crowns are a way to surgically replace teeth. An implant crown is placed on top of the implant abutment and function like a regular crown
     


Permanent Bridges

  • Bridges can fill in missing teeth or a missing tooth by attaching an artificial tooth to permanent teeth or other artificial teeth and prevents teeth from moving. 

    Benefits - Bridges can improve both appearance and strength in areas with one or more missing teeth. native to root canal therapy.
