Fillings
Fillings are the restoration procedure for teeth with cavities. There are two types of dental fillings: amalgam and composite.
Amalgam
-
Amalgam is a silver-colored metal alloy, containing mercury, silver, tin and copper , used in dental fillings. This type of filling is commonly referred to as a “silver filling.”
Benefits - Amalgam is beneficial because of its durability and best suits large cavities or posterior teeth that endure more pressure during chewing.

Composite
-
Composite is a white colored resin material used in dental fillings. This type of filling is commonly referred to as a “white-filling”.
Benefits - Composite fillings are best suited for small cavities as they are not as durable as amalgam fillings. Composite filling are also the esthetic choice when it comes to teeth visible in the smile because of their natural appearance.
Extractions
-
Extractions, or removal of a tooth, may become necessary trauma, disease, or orthodontic related procedures.
Benefits - An extraction may be a more affordable alternative to root canal therapy.
